Choosing Sustainable Materials: A Broad View of Life Cycle Analysis
Rick Blumenthal, Knauf Insulation, Inc.
Selecting sustainable materials is not a binary decision. The choice is the result of analyzing any number of a material's characteristics and deciding which best fits the project's criteria. That said, is it only the material itself that makes one product more sustainable than another? This presentation and discussion will focus on the various criteria that can affect performance, functionality, health, IAQ, and cost to name a few. Examples of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices will be discussed as well as presenting resources that support decision making when evaluating cost, value and transparency.
